Fascinating piece on the legal aspects of my “beautiful” Music Industry lol. Here’s an excerpt that is notable:
Williams’ deposition is equally fascinating, as the writer-singer-producer comments on the flawed nature of writing credits and awkwardly defends his own musical training.
"This is what happens every day in our industry," Williams says, referencing Thicke’s co-writer credit (and 18-22 percent of publishing royalties). "You know, people are made to look like they have much more authorship in the situation than they actually do. So that’s where the embellishment comes in."
I’M GONNA BE OKAY I’VE GOT PEOPLE WHO LOVE ME EVEN WHEN I DON’T REALLY DESERVE IT I’VE GOT THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO AND PEOPLE TO LOVE AND DOGS TO PET AND RAIN TO LISTEN TO AND I’M GONNA BE OKAY WE’RE GONNA BE OKAY
My house is strange. There’s me, i’m bisexual, and I live with my gay brother and my asexual fiance. My brother and I have the same taste in boys, but i’m really the only one who likes girls, and my fiance is generally just really excited about dragons.
My roommate and I are really sick and we look like shit, but we were hungry so we ordered pizza. But we didn’t want anyone to see us, so we asked them over the phone if we can leave the money on the door and they can just drop off the pizza.
The guy said sure.
So we decided to leave a nice little note
and we hung it above the door bell. I hope they like it!
